Extension with PGD

Post by AUHS » Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:22 pm

Hi every body

I think it's a good news for all of us who are already on Tier1 that rules will remain the same at the time of our extension as they were are at our initial application time.

There is only 1 thing in my mind now.any body please clear this doubt.

I applied in 2008 and was granted Tier 1 . They give me 30 points for my PGD.Will I get the same points for my qualification (PGD)at the time of my extension.

I am checking ukba online calculator for extensions and it is giving me 0 points when I am entering my qualification even I am putting my approved initial application date(2008).
Can I get the same 30 points at my extension same as awarded to me at time of my initial application.

Can any body please clarify this. I will be very grateful.
Thanks in advance

As far as I understand and you also know that you will not get any point for your PGD for obivious reasons(Let's not pretend otherwise).

Your safest bet is to topup your PGD to master's ASAP, if possible for you.

Thats why you get 0 on your qualification. HO remove the PgDs of those type of colleges from their points calculator, but I guess people who got their initial T 1(General) with those PgDs may argue against it during their extension.

One thing I never understood how come HO used to give points for those bogus qualifications and how come people claimed themselves Highly Skilled with those paper only qualifications.
Sorry but my intention is not to hurt anyone personally but talking about the whole bogus system of the both sides.

The simple explanation is this:
HO/Govt. never thought in their wildest dream that these paper qualifications will be bought and sold.
They thought education is something you earn by doing hard work.

Bought and sold of paper qualifications was occurred behind the scene but those shop-top colleges, that sold the paper PgDs, was/is running in front of the Govt/HO eyes.
Even though if some one didn't buy the qualification but really attended the colleges and got the certificate, do you think they were in a standard to get T 1 (general) (HSMP).

Well to be honest T1G was never "Highly Skilled".

I think nuLabour gave that name just to fool the masses of this country!

Tories are doing exactly the same but this time they are scoring more own goals than nuLabour did!!!!

Please don,t say anything you don,t know I did attend my college and studied there. There is no need to put burden on your little brain.

LIC was a proper college as I say.

second thing...

I just got reply to my mail from UKBA and they confirmed to me that I will get the same points for my Post graduate diploma as I was granted at my initial application.

Better you try your sixth sense somewhere else.....

thanks

I don't understand your point?
No one is talking about you as a bogus student getting a bogus diploma, we were discussing in general.

UKBA Calculator or Customer care at UKBA?? your take!!

There are people on this forum losing appeal after appeal in situations like you so I'll still request you to stay on safe side!!

At the end of the day, its your case not mine!

Thank you very much for reply

My point is

My application will be an EXTENSION application and NOT an initial application.

According to UKBA policy guidence the applicant will get the same points for his qualification(if he is providing the same qualification which he did get point in his previous initial application) at the time of his extension.Even the applicant no need to send his qualifications again to UKBA with his extension application.

There is some glitch in UKBA point based calcularor possibly. Its not giving points for any qualification which is obtained from any college.

Even if you put piblic funded colleges names in rather than Private colleges which you are talking about.

And for your information only if you read the other thread carefully than you will definately know that 1 guy who even applied for his initial application with PGD and was refused.

His appeal is allowed......

And wait fot the other guys whome appeals hearing is in coming days.

Dear AUHS,

Thank you so much for the valuable information. I am in the same position as yours now as I wait to apply for my tier 1 general extension next month.

Initially I was awarded 35 points for my Masters degree. Now when I calculate, the Institute from where I did my masters does not appear in the drop down list of 'qualification'. Could you please guide me as to did you email UKBA about your query or did you confirm regarding this with the Customer care.

Any kind of help is highly appreciated.

I assume you are selecting 'Extending your stay' when using points calculator right?
Also, contact UKNARIC to get an assessment. Check this How is your qualification assessed?
