Hi All,
I have a query for all the experienced people out here in this forum.
I am soon going to apply for the Extension of Tier 1 (General) visa.
I did my qualification from previously called "Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow". My degree certificate has this name on it.
The university was bifurcated into two different universities with effect from May 1, 2010. The name of the new university which is "Gautam Budh Technical University, Lucknow" is currently available in the Point-based calculator but the old university name is not.
Now, I am worried that when I apply for extension, UKBA might not recognize my degree certificate and as a result might decline my extension.
I called UKBA Immigration helpline. They couldn't help but advised to talk to UK NARIC. I called UK NARIC and asked them what to do. They couldn't give me any assurance and advised to apply for a Statement of Comparability which is an officially recognised document that confirms the status of an overseas qualification and its comparable level in the UK. It costs around 50 pounds to do so, which is not a problem.
But I want to check with you guys if anyone has experienced same issue and what are the suggestions/advice to deal with it.
Please help me!
Many thanks.
