Psw dependant and ILR 10 years period

My husband has spent 6 years in the uk including 2 years of psw finishing in April 2013. Instead of him renewing the visa we have decided that he will apply as my dependant. He will go back home and apply for dependant visa in February i m on psw my concern is that is this going to effect his previous stay or not. If I will get one more extension of any category would he complete his 10 years or not

If he leaves UKfor 3 months or more he will break the 10 years period and give ground to refusal
