Switching to new employer with pending Tier 2 application

Hi,

I am currently working for a company that has agreed to give me the certificate of sponsorship. I intend to apply for the Tier 2 VISA at the end of January. However, I am interviewing for new roles with other companies.

What happens if my Tier 2 VISA is still processing during the time that a new employer agrees to hire me? Should I not apply at the end of January and wait to see if I get a new job first? Should I keep the maintenance funds in my account?

How do I go about this?
