self employed for ilr

Post by faislondon » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:39 am

Dear colleagues,

I have my ilr due on march 18 2013 which is my last day of visa. I have registered self employed 2 weeks ago. Hmrc says I will only receive utr no untill 01 march. Is it a requirement to have utr number since I am planning for premium service.

I am also full time employed.

Please advice.

Thank you.

Do you need the SE income to score sufficient points? I would not recommend that you apply at the PEO if the answer is yes.

A couple of grand in SE Income, perhaps acquired recently ahead of an application, and where that small sum is essential to score the necessary points (Oh, how convenient!), will always attract the attention of the CW.

Thank you for the reply.

Do you suggest to send by post. Is Utr number one of the requirement for SE as i have mix income of employment and SE.

I am in dilemma now.

Thanks.

It's up to you. What is the source of the SE income? If it's a blue chip company (I'm using dramatic licence!) perhaps they won't quibble, but they will want to make sure you have not simply contrived with friend to invoice for a task that never happened, just to make up a shortfall in earnings. They can't do this at the PEO so will hold on to your application. It will become a postal application for a PEO price tag.

I completely agree with Lucapooka!

Whether you apply by postal or not, you'll have a hard time trying to convince them about your recent self employment. PEO will definitely not work as they'll transfer it to the 'specialist' team that deal with self employment..who'll scrutinise everything.

I'm still waiting for my application sent on 9th of June...and when my MP called, that was the explanation they gave her. I've been self employed since stepping feet in the UK...a professional pharmacist, and my qualifying income was from one pharmacy for the whole 15 months period, yet I'm having to wait this long.

An extra employment may be better, but I think you've left things a bit late.

Thank you for the reply. I do understand that but its upto the individual when he/she would like to do business. I was lazy to be honest not to start trading. However since I am doing it now. I have to be positive. I would appreciate if you could please advise for UTR number.

Thank you

Absolutely, its up to you when you choose to start trading.

If you do not need the extra income to meet the required points, then you dont even need to bother about the UTR.

Hello Friends,

Yes I will need UTR since my income is bit less to claim 25 points. I have already registered on 15 Jan but still waiting for UTR. My visa in expiring on 18 march and I am planning to go personally between 12- 15 march to PEO.

In case if I dont receive UTR what is the possibility.

Thank you.
