British Citizenship and Referees

Does everyone know what exactly the Bank/Building Society Official mean?

Does she/he have to be on a managerial position? Should this bank/building society be registered in the UK?

Would the banker in the corporate banking qualify as a referee for the application?

Thanks

British Citizenship

Hi Gyfrinachgar,

I applied for BC for my family through NCS on 18th Dec 2012.
Application received on 20th Dec.
Payment still not credited from my bank account.

My Quert is related to my daughters school trip.
Will it affect application in any way?
She is travelling to Belgium on a school trip for one week starting 13th jan 2013.
Is it OK for her to travel on her Indian passport?
or wait until final decision.
Please advise
regards

Sorry for the late response, have been away.
If your daughter has a valid Indian passport, she can legally travel with it to her hearts content. Once she becomes British, she has to surrender it within 3 months, that is all. There is no need to be in the UK until the decision - 5 days after the NCS appointment you are free to travel.

I wouldn't call it common (they are usually debiting fairly quickly, sometimes virtually immediately), but the Christmas/New Year probably slowed things down at HO. As long as you have confirmation that your application was received, I wouldn't get any gray hair over it.

Good question, unfortunately impossible to answer reliably. Theoretically, everything between 2 weeks and 2 years is possible. As a rule of thumb I would estimate 1 to 2 months (if everything is straightforward) - but there is no way of knowing. Look at the clubs to get a rough idea - especially the November/Decemberclubs should be interesting for you. Good luck!

Hi All,

May be this is not correct place to raise this question. But i didn't find any topic elsewhere to post my question.

I have got ILR on Dec 2011, and i'm on an business trip to my home country for more than 3 months after getting ILR . So, would i be eligible for applying BC now or should i wait and if i should wait how much time.
Also, in the last five years due to work assignments I was out of UK for more time.
Any suggestions on how and when i should proceed will help

Thanks

The limit is 450 days in the last 5 years, and 90 days in the last 1 year. So you should wait until the absences fall below these thresholds. It is possibile to apply earlier (i.e. when you are above these thresholds), but that is risky - it requires caseworker's discretion. While it depends on your personal situation, I would not usually recomend taking the chance.
