May be, but all I know - it only adds further frustration for people like you and me.Baxx wrote:Gawd, they are shameless!
These people could be hanging around in UK, or gave up and left the country?
Well, please do let us know how that goes!Justiceseeker wrote:May be, but all I know - it only adds further frustration for people like you and me.Baxx wrote:Gawd, they are shameless!

By the way, my adviser is planning to write a letter at the end of the January if we do not hear anything from UKBA.

Unfortunately the 1 year period starts from the date of commencement of the ILR period which is mentioned in the BRP card. They don't consider the processing period of ILR.fsixteen wrote:Dear Friends,
Many thanks for your support. I have received an ILR after 6 Months.
Application submitted on 12/07/2012.
ILR received on 17/01/2013.
Do you have any idea about the British Nationality qualification period. Would the Home Office will consider the 6 months within 12 months period of qualification, while my ILR application with them ?
Or do they consider the starting date from the date mentioned of the card. ?

Dassie wrote:Hi guys,
Just got my passport back and thought I'd share my timelines and what I did differently.
Form: SET(O) Ancestry - no dependants
Visa expired: 28 August
Application arrived with UKBA: 28 August
Confirmation letter: 30 August
Invitation for biometrics: 28 October
Biometrics done: 30 October
Wrote to MP: 18 January
ILR Approved: 22 January
Passport returned: 25 January
Biometrics card due: 29 January
So almost a full 5 months from application to approval.
Some further info for those who have still to apply. My application only arrived with the UKBA the day my visa expired - I was unable to get a same day appointment. However, I did ensure that I put my application together really well and that it was as easy as possible for my caseworker to navigate through my paperwork. I did this by putting all the info into plastic sleeves in a file - just one of those thin ones (not the lever arch style). The index clearly stated where each item was and labels on the corresponding sleeves confirmed what the item was (so s/he didn't have to flick back and forth to see where each was). I also included a cover letter to my caseworker thanking them in advance for their help and giving my contact details in case they needed to get further info from me (for ease). I had collected all the paperwork but it took me two working days to get it into shape, fill in the application form (twice as I'd done the wrong form) and so on.
I contacted my MP around the 4.5 month mark as I was desperate to travel for family reasons (my brother was involved in an accident). I also explained why I was reluctant to withdraw my application all together - the high cost of the application, the affect it would have on my right to work and that I'd have to reapply from my home country which could take months. They called the UKBA MP's hotline but were just told that my application was being processed and that they were unable to provide any further information. They also asked for proof of my need to travel in the form of a letter from the hospital or police in order to continue with the process. I got the impression that under extenuating circumstances like this they'd have tried to get it process sooner. I'm not sure what correlation this played on my application, although it was granted a few days after that call...
I also made a Freedom of Information request which is due back next week (they have 20 working days to respond). I'd highly recommend doing this even if just for your sanity! Please note, all of this is just my opinion and how I did things - it's no indication that this is how it should be done.
Thank you to everyone on here. I know it's been said before but this place has really kept me sane during this process! Good luck.
D x
Aah, thank you for sharing this - this is exactly my timeline to the day (except for the approval), so hopefully I'll have good news soon!malaga wrote:Hi all
