Is simultaneous processing of HSMP and workpermit allowed?

Dear All,
My employer has asked me to apply for a UK work permit. However, I would like to apply for HSMP independently. Can I apply for HSMP while the work permit processing is in progress? Are there any risks involved? Is it advisable to get the work permit processed, enter UK on work permit and and then apply for a FLR (HSMP)?

Firstly, you have to decide if you want WP or HSMP. Both are work permits. But HSMP is flexible whereas WP is tied to an employer.

Secondly, it should be your employer who has to be responsible to apply for work permit, not you.

However, you are free as an individual to apply for HSMP.

You cannot enter UK with just work permit and then get FLR. FLR is the actual process where a visa will be stamped into your passport. You have to have this before you travel.

First get your WP in hand, and at a later date, you can apply for HSMP.
