Not having a job as of time of application

Post by opss2011 » Tue Jan 29, 2013 1:11 pm

Hi,
Please someone help, I have been made redundant upon my return to wrok this year ie 3rd of January and my last day is 15th Feb.
I am due to put in my application on the 1st March.
Will it be a problem that i dont have a job as at the time i apply as the letter i will be getting from my employer will show my start and finish date and how much i earned.
Please your advice will be very much appreciated as i have been worried sick and also trying to get another job just to show that i am in employment.
Many thanks

It is a problem only if you are on tier 2. If you are on tier 1 there is no requirement for you to be in a job at the time of application. You are fine as long as you have earned the required points in the last year and you can always show salary for any 12 months of the last 15.

If I was you I would also keep a copy of my latest bank statement to prove that I have enough funds to maintain myself and dependants till the time I find a new job.
Thanks!

I forgot to say that I am applying for indefinite leave to remain under the hsmp rules which is now tier1.

Hi,
Since you are just 2 weeks short, try to negotiate with your company if possible. If they grant 2 weeks extension it will make it easier. Also try to offer them a 2-3 weeks of upaid leave in Feb to compensate for the extension. I think it is worth giving a try.

This won't be a problem, so long as you score the required points and meet the requirements for ILR. Do however make sure you get all the necessary paperwork together, (e.g. payslips, P60's certified if they are electronic) before your employment ends.
