Finally got my ILR after 7 months:
Yet, the UKBA doesn't seem to understand the basic concept that many business people TRAVEL for a living; taking 4-6 months to process applications, prevent business people from travelling, all while charging exhorbitant fees is NOT being open to business.

lhrpk - Firstly, many congratulations!
Couldn't agree more about their understanding. As some here will know, my wife is still waiting having applied for SET(M) in September. The UKBA have not only had her passport, but also mine (I am a UK citizen) ever since and it means, of course, neither of us can travel outside of the UK without them!. On her insistence, I actually wrote to my MP 2 weeks ago, pointing this out and also pointing out the inconsistency between the length of time it takes for postal applications to be decided Vs that of personal applications. We received a very nice letter from the MP stating that she would take up this discrepancy with Mark Harper and would let us know the outcome. The day before we received the reply, my wife got a letter from UKBA requesting us to provide
further proof that we were still married and still living together between November 2010 and July 2011! This seems to be a very specific timeframe, and these dates were already included in the 6 documents she provided with her application! However, fortunately we managed to find a few more documents covering that timeframe and also included her NHS Medical Card and the paper parts of both of our driving licences as well (although none of these actually help in terms of the date range). Now the waiting begins again!
