Working Tax Credits - confused

Post by Earthling » Sat Feb 02, 2013 2:43 pm

My husband is an immigrant from India, currently on a 2 year spouse visa and is due ILR in January 2014. I am a British national.

We don't claim any benefits but our incomes are low enough to get Working Tax Credits. I have read so much conflicting advice on whether we can claim WTC without jeopardising our ILR claim in January.

I found some info on this site saying it is fine for us to claim, but it was from 2008 so I would like to make sure there have been no changes since then.

Can anyone advise?

You can claim for WTC without it affecting your husband's ILR application, but strange as it may sound, you must claim in joint names.
