ILR - Change of employer

Post by amankahlon » Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:25 pm

Hi there

Just have a quick question.

I understand that the sponsor that issued the Certificate of Sponsorship that led to the applicant's last grant of leave must certify in writing that he still requires the applicant for the employment in question.

What if I was to change employers once the ILR was granted. Do I have to make the UKBA of the new employer? And, does it have any impact on the ILR granted based on my previous employer?

Thanks in advance.

No. Once you are granted ILR, you are not bound by the terms of your former WP. I.e. you are free to work for any employer you please.

Hi cs95tdg

Thanks for the reply.

If I understand it correctly..

1. My current employer has issued me with the CoS, so the employment letter has to come from him for me to apply for my ILR

2. Once the ILR has been granted, I can work for anyone I like without making the HO aware of the change of employers.

Is that right?

Thanks

The employer letter basically gave assurance that they would continue to employ you. You haven't made a commitment to be employed by them, nor is that a requirement.
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.
