You're not alone. You may want to read this article in the Guardian today:
Border agency backlog keeps Britons and their foreign spouses in limbo

Same:
Posted application 27 September 2012 (for FLR (M) spousal visa
Got letter of acknowledgement beginning of December
Biometrics letter: December
Sent biometrics 19 December
Haven't heard anything since,,

I'm so stressed out. My current work sent email/ request of information to the UKBA 3/4 weeks ago no information...(had a tier 2 for this job) BUT they are okay because they have evidence I posted everything in time etc...

However, I Got a job offer, prospective employer sent statutory request to employ me to UKBA over a week ago (no response)
Not sure where I stand in regards to the job I have been offered. Ps advise..?

Have I got the right to work, switch companies (same type of work, same type of company just different trusts/areas)?

Has anyone ever been in this situation?
