Salary requirement

Post by Cheated » Mon Mar 05, 2007 12:17 pm

I am in the process of shifting from HSMP to Work Permit due to lack of points  and this question is just out of curiosity.

I have a Masters degree and I have been working in the same company for the past nine months.

I don't get any age points too.

Could someone enlighten me  as to how much salary one must earn (for HSMP extension) having earned points only for Masters and UK experience.

Sorry to be a bother, never been good in Math.

Thanks

Hi

You'll get 35 points for masters degree.

You have to prove you earned atleast 32,000 pounds to get 35 points
+
Claim 5 points for UK experience

That's 75 points.

If you earn 35,000+, you get 40 points. So, you'll score 80 points and qualify.

Read the guidance notes carefully.

I believe your initial Grant was for one year. In such a case you need to prove your income against an assessment period of 8 months.

You require a mnimum of 35 additional points from salary in addition to your 35 points from Masters and 5 points for your UK experience.

Criteria for earning these points aganist your earnings in the past 8 months are :-

£ 21,300 - £ 23,299 :- Points 35
£ 23,300 - £26,499 :- Points 40
£26,500+ :- Points 45.

Is this '£21,300 - £23,299 :- Points 35' after tax or before tax?

What's gross and what's net? What exactly are they looking for?

I claimed my salary points for my extension application after deducting tax, and ended up losing points.

Was I wrong?

Hi Cheated...it should be before tax (meaning Gross Income). Net income is after all deductions are made (NI contribution , tax n others)
