Hi, a friend of mine currently has a 5yr EU
Dependency visa which expires in May 2013.
She's therefore due for indefinite. She would
Like to know if she's exempted from writing
the Life in the UK test. apparently
A lawyer told her she's exempted from writing
The test.

As far as i know she has to take the test if she is between 18-64 years of age.

If she is in the UK as the family member of an Eea national then she does not need to take the life in the UK test. She will acquire permanent residence (not ilr) after 5 years of living in the UK in accordance with the Eea regulations.

What about if the dependent is Non -EU National ( Indian /Pakistani) but living in UK with the Euro National (e.g Denmark National) and living in UK since last 5 years.?

Main differences:
PR
is automatic after 5 years of living in the UK in accordance with the Eea regulations (i.e. does not require an application, but free
confirmation may be beneficial); and
does not require
KOL.

so my friend needs to apply for PR instead of ILR as she has lived in UK for 5yrs as a family member of an EU citizen.
