Given 2.5yrs guess the decision is based on when application is treated.

App Made - 04/08/12
App received -06/08/12
Money taken = 08/08/2012
Ack letter dated - 10/08/12
Bio letter dated - 07/02/13
Bio Done - 11/02/13
documents received - Waiting

My application is an extension to ancestry visa. I lodged a complaint in Nov 2012 as to why they were telling employers that people don't have the right to work when they do (they told my employer this). UKBA didn't answer satisfactorily, at least my employers aren't stupid and I could provide proof that I am permitted to work. In my complaint response they said that in December 2012 they were processing applications that had biometrics submitted in April 2012. So we are going by this, that we don't expect to see our passports/visas until 8 months after our biometrics are done. Anything sooner will be a bonus.

My Timeline:
Date of Application: 17/09/2012
Acknowledgement Received dated 19/09/2012
Biometric: Waiting
Others: Waiting

It's been about 5 months since I sent my application off and we (myself and my partner/sponsor) are becoming extremely concerned with the amount of time it's taking. There is also added stress because it's been over a year (since November 2011) that I have not been able to work and have been dependent on him.

It's nice to see people are actually getting replies though - I just wish I would get one soon!!

Long Wait

Post by Keisha » Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:11 pm

Hi All...

Congrats to Phil after waiting for more than a year and also congrats to anybody who was granted a stay.

Well,UKBA must sort out this back-log as it has been going on for years now.Surely, patience is a virtue but having to twiddle thumbs and plucking out hair-lines all in the name of waiting, its not right at all. They should try speed up the process and grant us our visas.I pray that all goes well for us in the next few months.

Hi Nazreen12,

The HO has to respond to MP's request within 28 days. It might well be before, it all depends on how busy they are. I am waiting to hear from them as well, it's been just over 2 weeks now. I think i will ring them next week.

Hi Justice12,

Do you think t is a good idea for someone in my case to email UKBA for the progress of my application. I mean given my circumstances (Overstayer).
Thanks!

No. You have a right to know what is happening to your application, comment, or complain, and it is in their interest to hear from you.

They want to resolve your complaint so that they can improve their service. UKBA will treat your application separately from your complaint and will decide it impartially, taking account of all the relevant circumstances.

Complaints do not affect UKBA decision-making process - and making a complaint does not mean that your application will be dealt with more quickly or more slowly.

I hope this answer is helpful?

Justice12 how're u doing? long time, have you got any reply yet? My application is almost a year now and i never hear anything. I'm fed up man.... My solicitor is worried too. I've sent the UKBA email this morning anyway...

Yes lets hope for the best. We will all get good news. But i suspect they might grant our application because of the massive backlog allegation on the UKBA, i don't think they have choice than to approve our applications... or what do you think?

I really do not understand what kind of agency is this UKBA. It is so unreal that applicants can be waiting for up to a year or more for decisions on applications; backlog reasons not withstanding. Even so called Third World Countries won't even take this long. It is simply unacceptable.

My partner's timeline are as follows:

Application submitted and Received by UKBA: 08/05/12
Biometric data submitted to UKBA: 12/06/12
BRP: still waiting
Documents: still waiting
