Spain reqs for marriage cert Apostille

Post by cindycs » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:44 am

Hello,

Does anybody know of anything specific that the Spanish authorities require when having a UK marriage certificate "Apostilled"?

Thank you!

What is it for?

Bear in mind that Spanish authorities only accept marriage certificates that have been issued less than 3 months before.. Don't think that is compliant with any laws, but they refused to accept our marriage certificate in April 2011, because it was issued in July 2010.

So we had to get a new one issued in Brasil and get it translated and apostilled again...

It is so that we can apply for a resident permit for my husband in Spain.
Sorry to hear about your experience!

We just got our marriage certificate translated into Spanish in Gibraltar and the translator also got the Apostille for us at a local notary. No big deal actually. Just make sure your original document won't be older than 3 months on the date of submission.
