UK Spouse Visa Granted

Post by boboselecta » Tue Mar 13, 2007 7:11 am

hello
my wife (chinese) had her UK 2 year Spouse Visa granted on the 14th Feb 2007. When is the latest she must enter the UK? also how long does she have to remain in the UK for each of the 2 years?
thanks

You say when the visa was granted, but what is the start date on the visa? Did she apply for a deferred start date?

If she does not arrive within 28 days of the start date then there could be problems getting the ILR in 2 years time.

Time in the UK? It needs to be clear that she is living in the UK, and not just using the spouse visa as some sort of glorified visitor visa. After all she has got a settlement visa ... she is expected to .... settle!

hi John, yes her visa date started on 14th Feb. But she has not applied for a defered date, is this easy to do? and how long can it be defered till?
She still has to tie up a few lose ends in China and give one month notice for her job, so by May she should be coming to UK.

We are in no way treating it as a glorified visa, we are grateful that the visa office granted her the visa without any problems or delays. we just needed a few more details that we couldn't find on the UK or Chinese websites.
