Postal Vs NCS

Post by kmore97 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 4:06 pm

Given the turnaround time of UKBA 2-3 weeks, it's wise to send application by post than through NCS - that saves time by about a week and few bucks of course.

Hi Scan,

Did you get your approval letter with the ceremony invite on the same day and how did you get to choose the venue? I though the venue was based on the Local Authority where you reside.

Hi, no, I got the approval letter one day and the invitation letter the next day. The approval letter already said "The ceremony will be arranged by the local authority whose details are shown below:" and below were all the Ealing Council details. Next day (Saturday March 2nd) I got the letter from the Ealing Council inviting me to the ceremony on April 9th.

Still not sure why they allocated me to Ealing as I live, work and applied in Westminster but to be honest I can't be bother to ask them. Will just go to Ealing and get it done.

Good luck with your application.

My thinking is also like yours - no point of taking their service - most of us will be able to do our application form correctly without NCS help. Even then, I took NCS service - the reason was, the verify all the original documents and return them to you and you can travel if there is any urgent need. This is very useful specially if UKBA take many many weeks to decide the case. Now given that, UKBA comeback with decision for simple cases in 2-3 weeks, there is no need to take NCS service if you have no travel plan or any other activity where you may need original docs in next 1 month.

Recently the processing times have come down quite a lot. But I am sure you will hear in 4 months time on this forum, some poor soul saying "guys, my application is straight forward but it's 4 months now and I haven't got my approval yet". There are quite a few straight forward applicants, on this forum, who have been waiting for more than 4 months. The point I am making is that use NCS unless you are sure that you won't need your passport for quite a few months.
