anyone here who DID NOT send the original documents ?

Post by pdd123 » Wed Aug 18, 2004 7:27 pm

I know that it is necessary to send the original certificates, but did anyone send notorised / attested copies in place of the originals and if so what was the outcome.
I would like to what sort of reply you got.
1)No problem.HSMP was approved (unlikely)
OR
2)They asked to see the originals so had to send the originals
which delayed the processing time.(Most likely case)
OR
3)reject the application without asking to see the originals.
(also unlikely)

can anyone who DID NOT send the originals please post their experience ?

Copies certified by a solicitor are generally OK.

pdd,
I have sent legislated documents. This includes notary attested copy plus certified translation plus stamped by local ministry of education plus stamped by local british embassy. But I do not have a result yet (And perhaps will wait a couple of months more) so cannot really tell you if this would be ok.
Cheers

I've sent notarized copies of all my docs to HO in Feb 2004, and recently got approval letter. I've passed EC in UK Consulate in Moscow, Russia few days ago.... they accepted as well notarized copies of my docs. Only one original doc I gave them was my passport :D

sending originals is much better than notorised copies. Sometimes they may ask you to send the originals for reference, this will delay your appl. process. Or it may happen that they could totally reject it. If you send the copies it will be just tring your luck.

I am now rethinking about sending notorised copies..
$10 per signature..so steep..
26 paystub photocopies (I get paystub every 2 weeks : so 26 for the year)
experiance letters photocopies, educational certificates for me & wife
marriage certificate, both our passport copies etc etc
about 50 documents to notorise.
That's $500 : almost the cost of a return ticket LA-LON-LA.

To save this money, I think I should send the originals (except passport)

Question is that originals will be tied up for 6-7 months.
What if I require the originals in an emegrgency ?
Can I get them back from the HSMP team ?
If so what happens to my HSMP application ?

I am undergoing a long drawn out GC process here in the US
and don't want to leave that till I get the HSMP.
once I get HSMP, i would not care about GC process.

I sent photocopies of my passport and degree certificate, and just received a letter requesting me to provide original documents as soon as possible.
