Hmm, this sounds like a good idea. People from this Forum who are attending the 11th Ceremony should all meet up at that ceremony and get to know each other.

I just happened to pass the convention centre this afternoon: nice to see a lot of "new Irish citizens" posing outside. In the UK the ceremonies are so small (21 people at my wife's ceremony)!

I would like to thanks to Mr. Alan Shatter TD for approving and allowing us to become Irish National , Today 30 min ceremony was very motivating and provided spirit to contribute building the nation as Irish national ,
also i am sure most of newly Irish national will vote for FINA GAEL for next election like one me ,

Today Minister announced the max time for application response will be 6 months as they have almost cleared the backlog and working fast as they can to make the process fast as result we can see i got within 14 month after my application which is quicker then i was thinking after applying .

I don't know i the speech is publised anywhere, but he didn't say anything groundbreaking.

I short, he welcomed the new citzens, encouraged them to take part in their local communites and the politics of the country, and said Ireland needs their strenghtes for economic recovery.

He also acknoledged that the processing time for citizenship applications as been too long, and said they have cleaned most of the backlog and are getting closed to their 6 months processing time.

Did he by any chance mention the number of applications remaining in the backlog ? And any potential future ceremonies coming soon ?

I don't think he gave the details of the backlog, and I am sur he didn't menion any dates for upcomming ceremonies (but based on recent experience they have one every 2 or 3 months).
