PSW to Tier 2 - Job title Clarification Your advice needed

Hi everyone,
I currently work with a charity as a finance assistant on PSW visa.As my current job tasks involve a combination of reporting and data entry, my employer has agreed to change my job title to an assistant management accountant or something related and further modify my job description to accommodate the new job title.However, I can't see this job title i.e "assistant management accountant" in the current SOC code and the closest to it is a "finance analyst" with SOC code 3534.
Another close SOC code is 2421 which is mainly for qualified accountants but I'm part-qualified.
Could you please advise if I can still go with an assistant management accountant when I'm ready to apply or must it be a finance analyst?
I meet my boss tomorrow and have to agree on this before the end of the week.

Your actual job title doesn't matter. Your duties must most closely match the duties prescribed in the SOC codes and then your employer assigns you this on your CoS (even though it might not be the same job title as your actual job title). This is for your employer to decide and for you to consult with them. You must agree on the salary which again must agree with the codes of practice (even if your duties only closely match the job description in the codes).

Salary wise I'm okay as a new entrant for both categories.But a finance assistant is ineligible for sponsorship as per the SOC code.I'll go with the assistant management accountant title and ensure there's a close match with code 2421's job description.[/quote]

Hi I think you should go with 2421 as its accounting category. if you look at the new occupation codes it clearly says "sample job titles" so it doesn't have to be exact the same title. most importantly salary is the key factor so ensure you have the right salary rates. also whether you fall under new entrant or experienced category.....all the best and keep updating your progress. all the best
