Pension refund

Hi,

If I am in UK on HSMP and I want to opt for pension and after 5 yrs of service in UK, I want to go back to my original country, what happens to my pension in that case? Does it lapse? Can I get it refunded immediately or do I have to wait till I am 50 yrs of age to have it refunded?

very few countries allow pension refund (e.g. Switzerland) when a person leaves the country earlier than the pensionable age, but UK is not one of them (like most others). That means you will receive the money only as "pension". they will send the pension money to the place where u live at the time of claiming pension.
