De facto visa - bridgin visa/waiting times question please

Post by Dazed » Tue Apr 09, 2013 2:15 pm

Hi Everyone,

My girlfriend and I applied for a de facto visa in Decemember 2012. We received the initial letter to say they had received our documents but haven't heard anything since. I was under the impression it would take 3 months but we called last week and they said it will most likely take 6 months.

Now here is where the problem lies, my girlfriends visa ran out two weeks ago.

1. Am I correct to assume she is automatically placed on a bridging visa
2. Can we travel with this visa, we have flights booked to a friends wedding at the end of April and cant get an answer from immigration

Please help as I don't know if she can go or if its best advise not to try

Atleast you're not illegal or anything. And at the end of the day, you are very likely to get approved :)
