Knowledge of language and life in the UK for naturalisation

Post by walidukdz » Fri Apr 12, 2013 4:50 pm

Hello there .I have a few questions which to be honest could not find an answer everywhere I looked . Its about the new law that is coming on the 28th october 2013 regarding the knowledge of language. I have come to the uk the 15 July 2007 married to an EEA Member . last october I got my PR. I passed life in the Uk before 25 march 2012 .I know i can apply for naturalisation 1 year after i received THe PR .

1)-is that true or can I apply before knowing that I am going to be legally 6 yrs the 15 july 2013 ? if yes which document are needed ?just passport or I have to proof again being legally for the last 6 years (p60,bills ...)

2)- the new rules that starts the 28th october says that that you have English qualification from accredited school and on http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... appendixo/ there is a list of of English language tests that have been approved by the UK Border Agency for English language requirements for limited leave to enter or remain under the Immigration Rules . I found my qualification which is Level 1 Certificate in ESOL Skills for life Trinity College London but it also says For UK immigration purposes, the tests are valid for 2 years only . i passed it in 2009 does that mean it worths nothing?

3)-On life in the uk which i passed in february 2013 it clearly states Your success at this test also demonstrates that your level of competence in English meets the required standards for naturalization or indefinite leave to remain.
No further proof of this is needed . Can that be used as a contradiction to the new rule.

4)-worst case scenario . If I have to do an exam . which is the fastest way ? book ILETS :?:

I am getting confused . and a little clarification would enlighten lots of us in this Forum .
thanks

As you automatically acquired PR in July 2012 (even though only confirmed in Nov. '12) you may apply to naturalise in July 2013. However your PR document will not suffice in proving that you have held PR for one year so you will need to provide similar documentary evidence as you did when you applied for PR.
