What are my options if I am made redundant?

Post by Ohoopee » Sat Apr 13, 2013 5:21 pm

Hello,

I have been residing in Ireland for 5 years. I originally immigrated to Ireland March 28, 2008 and have resided here legally ever since. I am currently on a holiday but just got an email from my boss saying that they might be making me redundant. I have already made copies of all of my work permits, my GNIB Card and my Visa stamps from my passport to prove this so that I can apply for the 5 year residency. However, looking at the immigration website, it appears this application process takes 6 to 8 months to process. That is a long time to wait without work. What other options do I have if I am indeed made redundant?

Thanks,
