Dutch Citizenship

Post by dutch_beauty » Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:37 am

Hi!
I'm currently a student living in Canada. Born and raised Canadian too. However I am of Dutch heritage and my goal is to move back to The Netherlands and become a teacher there. If I am correct Dutch citizens automatically have a work permit right? So how can I go about getting Dutch citizenship?
Thanx!

Just another quick question. Do I have to get a working visa/permit to work over there before I'm a citizen?

Hi there,

Have you checked on the IND website? www.ind.nl or otherwise the website of the deparment of foreign affairs www.minbuza.nl? If you go onto the last website, under reizen en landen there is a whole section about dutch citizenship.

Hope it helps

ilse,

the websites you provided are in 'dutch' and it is likely that the dutch beauty may not be able to read dutch - having lived in Canada all her/his life

are there english/french versions of the site?

Hi,

As far as I know, you can actually select the language - english, dutch and I think even French.

I will have a look and get back to you about where you can change the language.

Hi again,

On www.minbuza.nl, you can change the language to English in the top left hand corner. And the IND website will have a full english version as from the 21st of September.

Hope this helps
