if the parents are currently receiving housing benefit ...and they now declare a higher income then does that adversely affect the housing benefit of the parents? the parents benefits may get reduced.. and that may upset them....why is no one commenting on that ????

its not just a question of proving that there will be no overcrowding...thats easy.. what about all these benefits issues ??
In my case its the parents who r claiming housing benefits not my sponsor!! The sponsor will rent a room in d house to accommodate us!! In other words its their daughter who is declaring higher savings and ready to rent the room which wud lead obviously to reducing the parents benefits!! I think we r ok with that!!!

hello folks

i would like your feedback on this accommodation issue:

as stated in my older posts i am intending to live in my sponsor's parents house who are in receipts of housing benefits.

my sponsor now is paying a big part of the rent but when she went to the housing association to see if they can deliver us a letter saying she is paying rent apart they refused saying that she is only contributing to the rent,

so as documents to b presented with the application we r providing:

Letter from parents agreering for me to stay in the house
Letter from housing association stating its ok for me to live in the house.
bank statement showing direct debit (part of the rent).
housing report.
photos of the house.
tenancy agreement.

will that be sufficient?

any suggestions wud b appreciated thanks

Hi mates,

I have an issue here regarding the p60 form of my spouse (sponsor), in fact she started working fulltime in july 2012!! N she is earning 14k per annum. The problem is if the p60 showed less than the amount declared in payslips and work contract would this be a problem!?? Or should we jst explain in the covering letter that the p60 doesnt show full year income due to the work outset as in july 2012!!

Any help would b appreciated!

Many thanks

Ps: any ideas about the accommodation documents posted before will be greeted thx :)

financial requirement

Post by penny1012 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:44 pm

Hi guys,

If someone can please confirm that I have got this right. My partner(sponsor) earns £1080 per month before tax, so that is £12,960 per year. so if I have cash savings of £40,000 and using the formula of (x minus 16,000) divided by 2.5 = y, in my case 40,000 - 16,000 / 2.5 = 9,600; will I meet the financial requirement.

Thanks so much for your advice, I really appreciate all your help. These rules are confusing.

Is 12,960 gross or after tax??

Anyway following ur numbers ur shortfall is : £5,640

5,640 x 2,5 = £14,100

So £14,100 + £16k = £30,100

So with this amout of savings you r safe i suppose.

Best of luck.

If your salary is above £18,600 u don't need any savings

If ur salary is below that threshold u need to calculate the shortfall as follows:

£18,600 - gross income = shortfall

Then: (Shortfall x 2,5) + £16,000 = Savings needed

Hope u get the picture now.
