2nd Tier-1 (General) visa extension

Post by trupsster » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:00 pm

Hello everyone,

My Tier-1 visa issue date was 18th Sept, 2008 and husband's was Sept 5th, 2008. We both applied independently. We entered UK together on Dec 26th, 2008. Since then, we have both had one extension after the first 3 year period, and now our visa is valid till 18th Sept 2013.
We entered UK more than 90 days after our visa became valid (90 days after Sept 5th and Sept 18th, 2008), and have missed the 90-day mark for ILR by 22 days for my husband and 9 days for me.
My question is: does this mean we have to re-apply for a 2nd Tier-1 (General) extension in Sept this year? Or, is there is temporary visa category for people like us who've missed it by a small margin? I somehow remember seeing such a short-term visa when I applied for 1st extension in Sept 2011, but for the life of me can't find it on the UKBA website now.
Can you please help me? Is my only option to apply for a 2nd extension, or is there a way out?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your replies in advance :)

Regards,
Mrs. Kaur

There is no short-term alternative. Do you qualify (points-wise) for further extensions?

Unfortunately you have to do 2nd extension like me. Once you have covered the 5 years, the following month you can apply for your ILR. You do not have to wait till the 2 years extension you will be given expires.
