The ukba generally accept the old form for 21 days after the new ones are released so you should be able to send it on the Monday. However, I don't know if this rules applies to naturalisation forms?Pqek wrote:I got my ILR on 26th October /12 so I could apply for BC on 26th October 2013.
26th is Saturday and if I wait until Monday, then I will need to take an extra English test to satisfy the requirements.
Does the home office receive applications on Saturday's? I.e. If I sent my application on first class on Friday or NCS post my application on Friday, will they receive it on Saturday 26th or Monday 28th October?
I know case workers do some work on weekends but not sure if they also receive applications on that date.
Please advise.
When does the residential qualifying period start?
The residential qualifying period is calculated from the day when we receive your application. Most unsuccessful applications fail because the applicant was not present in the UK at the beginning of the residential qualifying period. You must make sure you meet this requirement before you make your application. For example, if we receive your application on 25 March 2010, you must show that you were in the UK on 26 March 2005.
But I got my ILR on the 26/10/12, will it be ok for the home office to receive the application on the 25/10/13?CR001 wrote:The date of application is the date of receipt by the UKBA. Their offices are generally closed on a Saturday so my guess would be that the receipt date would be the 28th.
If you apply through NCS or post it, I would make sure that your application is received by the UKBA on Friday, 25th October latest.

You should make sure you satisfy the requirements on the date in which the HO receives your application. Will it be very difficult for you to meet the new language requirements? Your command of English seems competent.Pqek wrote:But I got my ILR on the 26/10/12, will it be ok for the home office to receive the application on the 25/10/13?CR001 wrote:The date of application is the date of receipt by the UKBA. Satisfying English requirements is not a problem, I got 8.5/9 in IELTS. the issue is having to go thru the test again for being so unlucky that rules are to be changed the day I'm meant to apply.D4109125 wrote:You should make sure you satisfy the requirements on the date in which the HO receives your application. Sometimes life is not fair. However, have you got a degree taught in English and recognised as so?Pqek wrote:Satisfying English requirements is not a problem, I got 8.5/9 in IELTS. the issue is having to go thru the test again for being so unlucky that rules are to be changed the day I'm meant to apply.D4109125 wrote:You should make sure you satisfy the requirements on the date in which the HO receives your application. My wife has a Msc from a university in the UK so she's ok; my degree was not taught in English. I guess I should start booking for the test now.D4109125 wrote:Sometimes life is not fair.
