Health cover

Post by samira_uk » Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:32 am

Hi,

Is private health cover necessary for non EEA applicant who is applying for EEA permit from outside UK to accompany her EEA spouse? The EEA national himself outside the UK and is going to live there. He was only in the UK couple of months ago to visit. EEA national is self sufficient.

It seems that for EEA card it is necessary to have health cover but I am not sure about the EEA permit from outside the UK.

The short answer is that it is not required. An EU national is not required to have health insurance during their first three months of residence.
