Anyone able to detail out the documentation required at the ceremony, i.e. what do I need to take with, like ID etc (do I need to take existing passport)

No of attendees is decreasing, while the gap between the ceremonies is increasing. Not certain how it will justify the effort to bring the processing time to 6 months and clearing the backlog.

Exactly. They seem to be getting stupider on a daily basis!

And that is despite thousands of people still waiting for the ceremony date!

Hi All,

My Wife applied for Naturalisation as a Spouse of Irish Citizen in August'12 and received subsequent acknowledgement within couple of weeks and also received a letter stating that application was being moved to 2nd Stage of the process in November'12.

Last month we contacted INIS and was informed that they are waiting for the Garda report from Nov'12 which should not take more 5months from the the date of the report sought.

So, we sent a mail to INIS today to give us a specific answer unlike the previous auto response(s), this is what they had to say!

To be very honest with you, with this new system on inviting few thousand people for ceremonies, you will not be in the next ceremony after May.

A lot of people are waiting for that and it seems like the INIS dont care about that anymore.

Keep asking them for an update once every month. You'll get to an advanced stage in a few month/s time.

You're on the same boat as so many people. I genuinely think that the INIS is out of their mind for leaving out lots of people who are waiting for ceremony only to invite 2080 people. This will go down as one of the strangest thing I've ever experienced. Well wait for 2 months so and definitely you'll hear from them regarding next ceremony date

Apart from your letter of invitation, it makes sense to have a valid ID with you, preferably your current valid passport.

Has anybody received the invitation letter for the 20 may ceremony yet?
Someone broke the news that the date was decided on 30/4, have they sent out the invitations yet?

Just your GNIB card and or if you're an asylum seeker, your travel document as well.

I am not sure if 'asylum seekers' have GNIB cards. Maybe you meant if OP has been granted refugee status.

Each application/case is treated differently so his hopes can be too high!

yeah depending on how lazy or efficient the person is who is dealing with your application.
