Switched WP to Tier 2-G and now 112 days short for ILR

Post by temo » Sat May 04, 2013 11:54 am

Hi everyone

I have searched the forum and couldn't find answer to this questions. would really appreciate your help.

I switched from the IGS (Intl. Graduate Scheme) to work permit on 10-OCT-2008. (this took place while I was in the UK) I was granted 5 years Work Permit visa valid until 10-OCT-2013.

In May-2010, I changed job and switched to Tier 2 - General (employer sponsored visa) and I was granted a leave to remain valid from 21-May-2010 to 20-Jun-2013. (i.e. 3 years and 1 month)!

I need to do something about my visa now as it expires on 20-Jun-2013 and I'm 112 days short from meeting the 5 years requirement to apply for ILR.

My questions:
1. Do I need to apply for a normal Tier 2 extension?

2. if so, Do I get two years extension or is it going to be for 112 days to meet the ILR 5 years requirement?

3. And the £1,700 question, does that mean I need to pay the full fees now and further ILR application fees later this year?

I need to know this to answer question L2 on page 29 of Tier 2 Application form.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards

U can get another three years depends on what ur employer puts in cos and contract terms

3. And the £1,700 question, does that mean I need to pay the full fees now and further ILR application fees later this year?

Thanks safatafa for the prompt response.

The question on the form says "L2. Are you applying for less than 12 months leave (regardless of previous leave)?"

I will seek to get 1 year extension and will apply for ILR OCT/NOV this year.

What I don't understand is why HO issued me with a Tier 2 visa valid for 3 years and 1 month! and yet expires ~4 months earlier than the one I had before.

Thanks again

L2 is for tier 2 ict and I think u r on tier 2 general
