OCI for Baby BC

Post by 007honnu » Mon May 13, 2013 2:54 pm

hello,
me and my wife have Indian passport with ILR status and our daughter was born in UK & got British passport.

Now wife and baby wants to travel to india for 8 months. So can we apply for Indian Visa for 6 months go to INDIA and then when in India can we apply for OCI card for baby ??.

Its just that we need to travel in next 5 weeks and i was told if I apply for OCI it will take longer. So am I better off applying for 6 months tourist Visa for india and then apply OCI while in india??

Your response is much appreciated.

Your baby doesn't qualify for OCI yet (as both of you currently hold Indian passport) and she needs to apply for PIO card instead.

This application can be done from India whilst on tourist visa. Please contact your local FRRO/FRO for specific processes in their jurisdiction.

Many Thanks Ban.s.

I was looking for info and how to apply for PIo from india and this line caught my eye.."Applicants already in India on Long Term Visa (more than one year) shall make the application for issue of a PIO Card ".

So I was planning to apply for Long Term Entry-@cost of £137 rather than the tourist visa Up to 2 Years @cost of £277 !!!!!............That should be ok right???!!...
