about applying passport

Hi everyone
Recently i have received a British citizen certificate for my child. My question is is that will be ok if i apply for my child passport after year later? As my child is not here with me.Thank you

British citizens are not required to hold a passport and can apply for one (including first passport) whenever they wish.
