How to become a DEPENDANT of International Student?

Post by sophie » Tue Apr 17, 2007 6:11 pm

Hi!
I am bonafide international student in UK now my student visa extension is due which I hope will not be a problem. The questions is: Do I have to just mention the name of my dependant in FLR(S) and send passport of both of us OR Do I have to get married with him officially first by getting the COA first individually and so on and THEN I will be able to tell Home Office that he is my dependant?
(some queries may arise about him here so I let you guys know that He is also International student and has valid leave to remain for 8 months)

Thanks in advance for all postings.
Cheers!
Sophie

But do you have the income to support him? You'd have to marry him, as far as I know there are no unmarried partner provisions for dependent visas (might be wrong tho)

I do feel income will be the stumbling block - how can a bona-fide student support two people and pay their way course fees et al?

Unless of course you have rich parents, but then there's the issue of can a dependent be dependent of dependent?

Also as she would be a student dependent, he could work full time.

Seems a bit of a rocky path to me, why the need to be dependent? Why not marry on ur respective student visas?
