ILR points query

Post by drdh4 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:28 pm

Hi All,

I have a slight worry regarding my ILR this October. Had my T1 (G) extension in 2010 & scored 80 points. When I checked my points now it's only 75 points I can claim due reduction of hours.

According to guidance notes I just need to full fill 75 points to apply for ILR. Heard some stories that I need to show the same amount of points as last time (extension)

Thanks in advance

You said you scored 80 points at the time of extension. Well, thats not the issue. The issue is, how many points did you actually need. What you need and what you scored are totally different things.

The trousers are on sale for £75, so you clearly need £75 to buy the trousers.

When you go to the shop you had £80 in your pocket. Now this somehow does not mean that now you need £80 to buy the trousers. You still only need £75 to buy the trousers.

So, now you work out the answer.

I heard this too and was getting tensed I guess as long as your intial visa was before April 2010 and you are getting 75 points every one should be fine.. they may ask but if you just show them the rules.. there should be any issues.

Yes, you do need to show the same amount of points as you had to the last time, but this applies to the minimum you need to show, not the actual amount you have. So if you have 75 now and 75 would have been enough before then there is no issue.
Do not send me PM's with specific questions - post question in the open forum so others can also benefit from the answers.
