BRITISH PASSPORT FOR CHILD BORN IN PAKISTAN

Hi wonder if someone can help me.

We are still awaiting for an appeal date for my wifes visa who is still in pakistan. We had a baby boy on the 13th April and thankfully I was over in Pakistan with my wife and witnessed the birth

My problem now is I need to find out wether I can apply for a British Passport for my baby? If so how do I go abouts doing this? I myself was born in Pakistan and came to the UK when I was 3 years old. I have a British Passport, however I'm not sure wether I can pass my nationality as a British citizen onto my child as I'm not sure how I became a British citizen, theres not much paperwork at home. All i know is that I have a british passport.

Please someone advise on the steps i need to take, what documentation I need and how long the whole process will take??
