If you look here, you can see the current applications being processed in the table in the middle of the page. It says they are currently processing this month's which is a good sign.

Also, they have a link to their historical performance (link)

If I were you I would go for the premium service....

At the end of the day, ILR is more important to me than the money spent cause you don't know when the rules will change again...

I would also suggest for you to apply in person.

I've had bad experience applying via mail. A lot of things can go wrong when you apply post. In my case, I nearly lost my status here and fortunately, I was able to salvage the situation, otherwise, I had been forced to leave UK.

I dont think it is worth risking the 450pounds that you can save.

jbinuk, i tot applying for ILR by post is £750? And premium service is £950? Just a difference of £250, i would advise anyone like you rightly said to go for premium, £250 doesnt make much difference and one can sort things out personally if things go wrong.

And of course in most cases you will receive your passport back on the same day if you use the premium service.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

It's not the matter of money. In my case, I have got 18 months gap between 2 work permits and I have got loadss of documents to prove / fight for my ILR. Some body adviced me to apply only through post. Check my thread.

What do you suggest for me? in person or through post? Which is better?

What more advice do you want???

When you go and apply in person you don't pay the fees upfront (unless the rules have changed now)

The person in the ground floor counter will look at your file and if everything is allright will give you a ticket and then you proceed upstairs with your application...

If you are refused at the first counter you don't loose any money other than the time you spent.

They only look at your immigration history unless the rules have changed now and they want to know what you eat, when you go to sleep etc etc.
