Can UKBorn Child travel back in to UK without UK Passport

Post by ukba2536 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:00 pm

I think this sounds bit weird..but just want to clarify my doubt

My baby was born in UK and Baby is staying now in India with grand parents

My ILR is due in next week 17th July'13 and once i get ILR i can register my baby as a British Citizen ( will apply from India)

Once my baby gets Citizenship letter or Certificate, is it possible for my baby to travel back to UK and apply British passport in UK.
will Border force allows my baby in to UK with Indian Passport and British Citizen Ship Letter.

Gurus or anyone faced this please reply

Many Thanks

Are you aware that the child will lose his Indian citizenship once becoming British so he will need to surrender his Indian passport?

You can enter the UK if you can prove you are British. The difficulty would be getting to the border as the airline will not allow you to board the flight without a visa (and a Registration Certificate is not a visa replacement).
