Regarding class 2 NI CONTRIBUTION

Post by jalpan1986 » Sat Jul 13, 2013 1:15 am

I have submitted my tier 1 general application for my first extension for my HSMP Visa on 21 st June
On 9 th of July I have received a letter from home office saying that can I please provide my NI contribution original documents within 7 days. Now the letter was issued on 9th July n I have been informed by ma solicitor just today around 16:50. So didn't get enough time to even call HMRC
To find out abt this class 2 contribution.
But I have never paid before for NI contribution for my last 2 and half years, I no I have to pay but I was not aware of it.
Now I have only 14 th July (6th day)
To call NI N FIND OUT how much do I have to pay.
Can I get some urgently advice on this

Hi Jalpan,

I was in the same situation but I had my class2 national insurance bill for which I didn't make the payment.
so the caseworker asked me whether I had paid any tax? So basically they want to know that whether you are serious about your self employment.
you need to show that you have paid tax for your income in the last year or any previous years if you haven't paid class 2 nic.
I would suggest you call up HMRC on monday and ask them for your NIC bill payment amount and just talk to them nicely and say that it is for immigration purpose and if they can send you an email confirming all your national insurance outstanding amounts? if they send you an email, print that out and write a letter to UKBA saying that because HMRC has NOT sent you any bills, you were not aware of your liability but you managed to get this email.
also if you have any correspondence regarding your tax or you have a proof of the tax you have paid, submit it to the UKBA.
DO THIS
log on to www.hmrc.gov.uk
click on Log On
click on Individuals
click on self assessment
register
enter your Unique tax reference number and once you are registered, it will show you everything that you owe to HMRC and you can also set direct debit to go out of your bank account. set it up as well.
all this will show that you are in touch with hmrc and if possible pay them the NIC that you owe by going to the post office and getting a receipt adn submit it to ukba. they accept this.

it is tricky, but the more hmrc docs you give, they will find it more convincing.

all the best

I agree with madison, basically UKBA needs to know the 'history' of your class 2 NIC contribution. If you take the history showing the same, then you will get a favourable decision.
