We have received HSMP approval letter and now planning to apply for entry clearance soon.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings,

Sub: My Application for UK visa under HSMP scheme

I XXXXXX, wish to apply for UK visa under HSMP scheme. My HSMP application has been approved on XXXXX and the reference number for the same is XXXXX.

In this connection I have enclosed all the necessary documents. Please refer to page 2 for the list of enclosures.

I have received a job offer letter from UK employer, XXXXXXXX and as per the offer letter; my initial one month accommodation in UK will be provided by the employer at company’s guest house.

I also have sufficient bank balance (i.e. INR XXXXX or GBP XXXXX) for the initial stay in UK.

So strange for hsmp
they just did it all at once for me so I didn't have to go through this seperate step
the embassy called me to say you have the visa
I went to the embassy and they said when do you want to enter
I said in two months
so they put the ec start date for that date and put the sticker in the passport

This process is to follow the formal procedure and can explain to important points to EC duty officer.
