Just want to know about the validity of the extension visa. Is it for 3 years from the day they stamped or is it for three years from the last date of your original visa.

It is 3 years from the expiry of the original Visa.
So if your 1 year HSMP Visa Expires 1 October 2004 the
3 year Extension would make it 1st October 2007.

Thats what they did to mine anyway and I am pretty sure the same logic should apply to all.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Just one more question. Did you come to UK immediately after you got your HSMP visa or after some time? Will you be completing 4 years of stay in the Uk after expiry of this three year extension or you will fall short by a few months.
I came here a month after i got my HSMP and will complete 3 years and 11 months after completion of extension period. I do not know whether this qualifies for ILR.

No Problem you will still qualify for ILTR. They will look at your 4 Year Visa and wil make concessions if you are a few months 2-3 short of 4 Years.

Hope that helps. I came 2 months after my Visa was stamped and they still gave me 4 years. So do not worry.

Cheers.

i dont think it should be a problem, i think you are actually supposed to apply for ILR some months b4 you current leave to remain expires. you can check on the other forum for confirmation or on the home office website
