will apply hsmp extension shortly. is P60 the income tax return? If not, how do I get it for the last tax year?

No it is not. Your employer needs to issue the form to you. It will show your pay and tax for the tax year ended 5 April 2007.

the system is different in the uk
pretty much the employer takes your tax and that is considered accurate, no more paperwork which is a better system than in the usa
if the tax office asks you to do self assessment this is the equivalent of a tax return you would do in the usa
for your extension your p60 is enough, with any payslips or contract for supporting evidence

Has anybody applied from Ireland for HSMP ? Is p60 enough or need Tax return from revenue

Form P60 is a UK tax form, so clearly would not be applicable in Ireland .... except of course Northern Ireland ... which is part of the UK.

John,

I am making my initial application ,am I ok to presume that P60(inspite of tax return) and previous 12 months payslips do the job !

In republic of Ireland they too have P60. its a tax form which employer issue at the end of each financial year.
