Australian PR confusion (Important)

Post by hun12 » Mon May 07, 2007 6:10 pm

Hi all,

I am a student in the UK but I want to get the PR for Australia. My brother is an Australian PR holder. I have got a MA Business management degree from UK. I got around 3 years of part-time work experience and 1 year full-time. Please let me know my chances of getting the PR. Kindly also let me know tht would it be better to apply from UK or from my home country and how long does it take? Otherwise, would I get any benefit from doing another course from Australia and then applying on-shore PR?

Thanks alot!

If you want to do a bachelor degree again yes. But, IIRC, for a master degree student -> PR application you need to do a 2 yr degree. It's quite hard to find a 2 year master degree.

Better apply from UK if you're qualified, and make sure that your degree in Aus will be enough to get your Australian PR

Thanks. I have already got admission in a university in Australia for a 2-year masters degree in professional accounting. Do you think after that I can apply for PR or do I need to do a 4-year course in Australia?

Thanks alot!

P.S. My brother already is a PR holder and lives in Australia.

You'd better check the immigration law first. I think that's enough but I'm no professional. Better download the guidance & forms from DIMIA website and read it through yourself.

Having a brother as a PR has nothing to do with your degree, it'll help if you're going through sponsored skilled stream.

Thanks! But, I don't see any option of getting a PR unless and until I go there for studies? Do u think there could be any other way of getting PR as I want to live close to my bro...thanks!

If you don't have any work experience then the answer is probably no.

Check the latest immigration law from DIMIA website. It's easy to understand. I did my PR application myself and didn't find any problem.
