Couple of questions for people applying using MN1 :

Anyone had to supply extra paperwork at the request of the HO after having sent in their application forms?

And if so, how much longer did it take before you heard anything again, having then sent the requested extra paperwork?

Thanks.

Hi z18runway,

Thanks for asking.

The answer to your question is firstly yes.

I was asked for further paperwork relating to residency.

Let me explain the background so you have a better understanding.

I am applying under 3(5) for my child born abroad. I am a British citizen and we have been back in the UK for almost 4 years (having lived here previously).

When filling in the application form under the residency section I wrote all the dates that we as a family had been out of the country on holiday (this total number of days fell way below the requirement).

Simply for full disclosure though, I added in the section asking for further information, that I work as cabin crew for a large British airline out of a large London airport (I'll let you guess which ones!) and as such I do international flights in and out of the UK and these are too numerous to list.

Perhaps I was being too honest for my own good and just ended up confusing the case worker. I have since learned that air crew based in the UK are exempt from the days in/out of the UK whilst on duty with the airline.

In any event 4 weeks after applying I received a letter acknowledging my note that I am cabin crew and that I spend extended time away (I never said extended but nevermind). They now need further documents relating to my residence and employment (P60's, payslips, letter of employment, tax credits, council tax, etc)

I have since sent this paperwork in, and have heard nothing for about 2-3 weeks now.

Am I being impatient, or will this take much longer. I honestly expected this to be a straightforward application! :)

PS Just as an interesting side note. I sent the requested documents recorded delivery. When I tracked it on the Royal Mail website it showed as delivered, however there was an apology that it took so long for delivery, because "the adressee requested that it be redirected". Is that weird or is it just me? The person who signed for it, printed their name as Nationality, so I assume it ended up in the right hands.

I don't have much experience about citizenship queries, but i can assure that if you post this query in the main citizenship thread, seniors can help you out.

Hope everything goes smoothly.

Thanks z18runway,

Already had some information from the other guys.

That's how I knew about the exemption for UK based air crew.

Good luck to everyone waiting.

He/she must be either a professional person or over the age of 25.
