Her details:
Tier 1 (General) stamped 21 July 2008
Date of entry to UK : 05 Oct 2008
Tier 1 (General) Extension:28 June 2011
Below are the absences from UK for the 5 year period from the date of
Year 5- 21-Jul-08 to 20-Jul-09 - 71 (Days outside UK)
Year 4- 21-Jul-09 to 20-Jul-10 - 61 (Days outside UK)
Year 3- 21-Jul-10 to 20-Jul-11 - 83 (Days outside UK)
Year 2- 21-Jul-11 to 20-Jul-12 - 20 (Days outside UK)
Year 1- 21-Jul-12 to 20-Jul-13 - 18 (Days outside UK)
Total 253 days outside
Her appointment was at 11:30 and the overall process from entry,security check,payment processing and biometrics took 3 hours.
Please note She is applying after 4 years and 11 months all her absences above were during Tier 1. The only documents She was asked during the appointment were:
SET(O) Form
2 Photographs
Passport and Biometric Resident Permit card
Life in the UK Test certificate
12 month payslips
12 month bank statement
She wasn't asked any questions about absences and no proofs were submitted. She did carry below documents incase the case worker asked:
5 year P60
Employment history from HMRC
Payslips during holidays
Letter from employer explaining the annual leaves taken.
She also offered an absence sheet giving the number of days outside UK, entry/exit dates and respective page numbers from the passport. Also in the bank statement She did highlight the line where her salary was credited. Whenever each document (original) was handed over to case worker She did give a photocopy as well. Case worker quite liked this and did convey her thanks.
No tension.
So the final quote is "Make your application as simple as you can. Do not make it complicated by giving lot of documents. You may keep it, but give it only when requested"
