Is it possible to apply in different category in person or by post , if your application is in process already.

because it says if you withdraw you have 48 hrs to leave the country?

i am willing to apply in different category which means i have to withdraw.

how it can work guys?

You may vary an undecided in-time application.

withdrawing an application before it is decided should not bring any impact on your future applications because it is sent back without a decision made on carelessly visa validation or any other aspects involved you get it back as it was.
you need to see if your visa still valid and stays valid by the time you get it back because you need to have a valid visa together with all other necessary documents to re-apply in different category which will be a new application and is considered new..
