Waiting for Marriage date(Got question your help required)

Hi,
Me and my partner been to our local registrar office for initial appointment of marriage .Interview gone excellent but they said that the registrar general will authorize the divorce as i been previously married and gave divorce in Pakistan .
Seniors its been 1 week i got not response from them and we are waiting .The registrar told that you can get marry but taking our signatures on a document but need wait for authorization .Can any one tell me how much time they will take as my partner is asking me to go again there and ask them why they are taking so much time .

Please guide us .
