Documents for Indian Visitor Visa

Post by ric1982 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 11:42 am

Hi,

This is a question for newly British Citizen who wants to apply for Indian Visitor Visa (6 months).

I know on the website it says about generic documentation. Does anyone have any experience of what documents require when applying for visitor visa for India? Also how long does it take usually?

Thanks,

Thanks I am planning for Birmingham.

Could someone please let me know what documents do we need to submit. Does surrender certificate needs to be included which means another 10 days of delay , if so could we apply for surrender of passport and visa together?

surrender certificate is must and surrender of passport is a separate process. you need to apply for citizenship renunciation (surrender of passport) first and on receipt of the surrender certificate apply for visitor visa.

Hi ric1982,

Can you post your timelines here when you have them?

Ban.s, I dont quite understand what you mean by citizenship renunciation, I thought you just had to surrender the Indian passport, and then apply for the visit visa to India with your British passport and surrender certificate.

Clearly I was mistaken, can someone point me to the citizenship renunciation process?

passport surrender is same as citizenship renunciation process - they are not different. you formally need to renounce your indian citizenship and surrender the passport.
